What do i put in place of the air tubes when removing?

I was going to remove the A.I.R. tubes on my exhaust manifolds this weekend to free up space in the engine compartment and was wondering what i could use to plug up the holes that they go into.

Go to your local hardware store and get some plumbing plugs. The ones with the square nut on top. They have a tapered thread so they seal very well. Thats what i used before the headers and they never leaked. Just make good and sure that they're tight.

I was just wondering what to do with the things the A.I.R. tubes are hooked to?What to plug up or remove, reason being is that I'm going to put headers on soon.

I thought I was going to unscrew the AIR pipes from the manifolds on mine, but years of rust accumulation had a different fate in mind. I ended up just crimping the ends of the tubes over. Works good, leaks just a little, but looks ugly.

Whatever you do don't use brass plugs from the hardware store, use zinc plated steel ones. The brass ones will melt and shoot out.

Guess how I know that! :>
