squealing noise
squealing noise
My camaro( 86 irocz engine code F) after it warms up makes a squealing noise similiar to a belt squeal, but if i take all the belts off it still does it. I took it to the dealer and they unbolted the torque converter so its not the tranny makin that noise, we put in a fuel pressure regulator kit bc thats what two people told us to do. Still does it. Could it be a leaking o ring around one of the injectors making it do that. OK new problem with my camaro. Sometimes the check engine will come on and the car will not run well at all. It will stall at traffic lights. I have no idea what makes it do this, it also will haev throttle surges while driving. But when the check engine light doesnt come on it, it will run fine, except for that squeal.
I hope someone can help me out. I am 16( not one of the punks that peels out with my camaro, i dont bc tires are too expensive and my dad would kill me, i go easy with it) so being 16 i dont have 1000 dollars to dump at the local chevy dealer to have them tell me they dont know and that a new camaro z28 is $21000.

IROC,
Welcome aboard ThirdGen.org! I think you'll find this site very informative.
Since the car sat idle for several years, I'd suggest checking all the vacuum hoses for cracks and splits. A small split in a large vacuum hose can cause a high-pitched squeal at varios RPMs. You should also check the PCV valve for sticking.
I presume you've already changed the oil and filter, since oil will turn acidic from just sitting on the sump. Four years of water and acid buildup in the oil can't be good.
Do you notice the noise at all RPMs or only in a specific range?
Get the noise eliminated first, since one problem at a time is enough, and the noise may be related to the SES light.
BTW - What fuel system do you have? TBI? TPI? Carburetor?
