my time slips i need to know ,why so slow??

hello all, i finally got to run the baddass IROC and found it to be less than bad I know my react needs work , and the 60' were lousy hook-ups. I am car 290, the temp was 75, dunno 'bout alt. I was told to get drag tires and sub frame connectors next. The gears are 2.77, the motor is a L98 has full exhaust and plugs/wires and the free stuff exc. plenum porting. 700r4 tranny

JUST ANOTHER DUDE TRYIN' TO GO FAST

Don't worry about your reaction times. The clock doesn't start till you leave the line. Work on your 60'. With that mph and a 2.00 60' you could get 14.5's. After you stage put your left foot on the brake and bring the rpm's up to 2000. When you see the second yellow go out take your left foot off of the brake and floor it. If it spins try it at 1800.

Good luck and have fun

The first few times I ran my car ('89 Iroc L98, 2.77 geared) I could only get 15.0s @90mph. My transmission was slipping bad on the 2/3 shift. A friend of mine, told me to start shifting the car instead of letting it do it. My next pass went to 14.8s (still with a bum tranny, on that run I had to shift in OD then back down to 3rd to get the car to shift.)

Like it was said before, with your trap speeds you should hit mid 14s. I hit 14.3s at 94-95 mph.

Sparks a flyin'.

Sounds like you need gears in a bad way. Are you spinning alot at takeoff?

from what i can see, your main problem is the 60' times. drag tires shouldn't be needed for a car running them times. just work on your launch. try adjusting tire pressures, different ways of launching, etc. with the 2.77 gears it shouldn't be that hard to come out of the hole without spinning.

My corrected times for sea level were 14.5 @ 96 mph (last time I ran, before I installed the PR chip), and I have a 2.77:1 rear end, headers, cat back, free stuff, great tires, and thats it, so your times are not that far off.

1/4 mile times without chip:
Best ET: 15.7 @ 89MPH
Best Corrected ET: 14.5 @ 96MPH
