Weird idle problem
Hello,
My IROC Z/28 is exhibiting some weird idle behavior lately. During warm up, it seems to idle fine. However, after that it might not idle around 500 rpm where it should when stopped and in drive. Sometimes it idles around 1000 rpm, and I'm pretty sure I've seen 1,500 one time. About half the time it does this weird idle stuff, and the other half it idles fine, around 500 rpm.
When I try shifting to neutral, it idles even higher, around 1500 rpm. Wondering if anyone has any experience or ideas about what could be causing this problem and how to fix it?
I've got a 1987 305 auto.
Thanks,
Tristan

Did you do a search on the boards with 'idle problems' ?
there's lots of ideas about what the problem is, just need to do a little reading....

I have had major problems with idle issues on my car. I have done alot of work on my car to correct this.
Infact check the TPI board right now. There is someone on there with similar problems. You can probably find your answer there.
