help with starter please

Hey everyone! Last night I went to start my 92 firebird, all I heard was one click, and then the engine wouldnt even try to start. It still has power for the cd player, windows, etc. so it leads me to believe its the starter. Can anyone direct me as to where I can find the starter underneath the car so I can try the old tap it with a hammer trick? Thanks for your help I appreciate it!!

If your laying beneath the car the starter is on the rightside of the motor just before where the motor and tranny meet. Unless you can raise the car up a good deal its gonna be a royal pain in the *** to tap it because of how far aft the starter is under the car. Good luck. Its also a pain in the *** to change. Good luck.

Its not too hard to change if you have the car up on ramps. The starter is pretty heavy though but there isnt much to changing it. I used the haynes manual when i changed mine and it worked just fine.

It might not be the starter, it could be the vats system acting up.

Starters can be a PITA to change, in my case I had to drop my y-pipe, doing that I snapped the flange bolts.
