Need help NOW..intake swap..

I've got the carb and distributor off the old intake and realized the hole on the new intake for the distributor is a fair bit bigger.??Is this for a different size of HEI or something? My distributor is a non-comp HEI that fit perfectly in the aluminum 305 stock manifold thats on there now.I've never heard of there being different diameter hei's,but I have seen different lengths though. The new manifold is a Weiand #8004 which is widely used, will this work with my HEI,or am i screwed?I've got to know so i can get my car back together.

Most aftermarket intakes, the hole has alot of tolerance to allow for misalignment... as long as your dsit will go in, and the gasket fits against it, it will be fine

Thanks RB,It makes me crazy to take apart a perfectly good running motor to do stuff like this,i won't feel good about it until i hear her running again.I got thinking about it and realized it would probably be alright but i'm very appreciative for your quick response. Now i can continue the operation with one less thing to worry about.

If I am correct, there were also a couple of different "stalk" diameters over the years, not to mention aftermarket roller bearing distributors.
