what would happen if installed 350 parts on 305 ?

i was wondering if i used 89 350 heads and ecm the whole 350 setup bascially on a 86 305 would the motor run correctly and if so could i use the cam from the 350 in a 305 block , before you wonder why , im going to get a mini ram for my current 89 formula so im trying to kill two birds with one stone and convert my 86 4bbl 305 to tpi with buying as little as possibly to make a decent daily driver

I have L98 heads and L98 cam. The cam gave me some top and lowered some low end. And the Heads stole hp and torque away from every rpm band. I think the ECM would go in fine.

Your going to need a wireing harness, but every thing else should work. I plan to take the heads and cam off my 91 vett and put them on my 305 when I get the money for the fast burn heads.

I wouldn't reccommend 350 heads on a mild 305, from what I understand, the flow velocity will go to sh*t b/c of the bigger intake valve/runner.

dont put 350 heads on a 305. it will lower the 305's compression ratio therefore not letting you take full advantage of the new heads. although low CR is good if you are running a super charger. if you must use those heads on a 305 get mill them down to raise comp. or get some flat top pistons.

besides lowering the compression there is a good chance the valves will hit the deck area. if they don't the flow around the valves will still be restricted. it would be better to get 305 heads reworked for bigger valves or better flow than using 350 heads.
