Trouble shooting............advice needed

Just installed headers, has a cat and exhaust, no AIR, new o2 sensor, and now the car runs like crap. It idles steady but the engine shakes a lot, if that is what you want to call a rough idle. As soon as you give it gas it bogs, and stays bogged. I drove it two miles, very slowly, and gave it probably half throttle and it threw a code, 44-lean oxygen sensor. I dont really see how the oxygen sensor could cause the car to run so bad. I'm going to check the fuel presure right now.

Someone said something about a "heated" o2 sensor, no one at autozone had heard of one, can anyone tell me anything else about them?

And how do you short circuit the o2 sensor, for the time being i just used a small piece of wire to hold the o2 wire off of the headers, could this have done it?

Thanks

86,

The oxygen sensor relies on the exhaust system for an electrical ground. If you used fresh gaskets, anti-seize, and still have fresh paint or coating on the headers, the sensor may not be grounded well. Make sure the headers are a good ground for the sensor. You can try temporarily installing a ground strap or wire from the block to the bare metal base of the sensor and check the readings again.

You might also want to closely inspect the spark plug wires for heat damage, and double-check the firing order.

Later,
Vader

Get a bosch sensor for a 93 vette (napa) there will be 3 wires one will go to a 12 volt soruce hot only when the key is on, the other one will go to a ground, Now the 2 wires I just told you about will be the same color, you can hook, it does not matter which you hook to which, the 3rd wire which will be a diffrent color is your o2 sensor wire. hook it to the one you have now. Napa sells weather connector that will plug right in to your new sensor. I think it is for a zr1 vette the other vette that year did not have a heated one.
