Torque Convertor lockup switch
Ok, just read about this on the tech articles.. Is it worth doing? or will it completely RAPE my 700r4? just wanting some peoples opinion... thanks

Current Mods: Gutted Cat, !MAF screens, Gutted Air Box. K&N, Ram Air, Throttle body coolant bypass, AIR system removed, 3" pipe to flowmasters, dual 12" electric fans, 4 core alum radiator, 160* stat, high output h20 pump and alternator, Accel Cap, rotor, 8.8mm wires, Bosch Plats, AFPR, Performance chip(unknown kind), Nitto NT555r 245/50/16 drags rear, Yokohama Advan 032r 245/50/16 fronts, JVC KDSX939 Head unit, Kenwood Excelon 4x6's, Kenwood Excelon 4 way 6x9's, Kenwood 606c amp, Power Acoustic Crossover, 2 JL 10w0's in custom bandpass box.
Best Run: R/T .601; 60' 2.010; 330' 5.990; 1/8 9.154@76.89mph; 1000' 11.997; 1/4 14.489@ 96.78
(only mods at that time were the K&N, exhaust,chip & no drag radials)

Axle/Gears: 3.54 Dana 44
Used in moderation I wouldn't expect it to appreciably shorten the life of the transmission. I wouldn't abuse it though.

i did this mod about five years ago. i 90% of the time run the first three gears with the lockup off. fourth is allways on. from my experience i think you will be ok.

Manually locking up the converter will usually not help your E/T's (0.1 - 0.2 seconds at most if at all). The abuse that's inflicted on the converter itself and the transmission's 3-4 clutch pack, is not worth the minimal gain (if any).
Lock up torque converters are not designed to be manually locked up at WOT, except the multi-disk Vigilante. As one person put it, "If you burn the bulb twice as bright, it was last only half as long."
The only exception to locking up a converter is in a turbo or supercharged engine, where the horsepower on the top end is used to pull the car through third gear (D) through the traps, thereby increasing mph.
