Can I change my v belt setup to serpentine
Can I change my v belt setup to serpentine
Yeah I've decided that my v belt setup is a royal pain and that either before or when I have the 400 ready I'm wanting to change it over to serpentine. My question is has anyone done this?
I'm wanting to use used parts off a caprice or fuel inject camaro
I have an 85 camaro with a 305 4bbl (if it matters)
Will the brackets line up?
Can I keep my higher output alternator that I have added?
Will I need to take the power steering pump or just the P/S pully?
Is it true I need a reverse water pump?
Would it be better to keep the alternator and A/C in current spots instead of switchign them if it is possible?
Does anyone have any tips about doing this?

1. The brackets do not care what the bore is; they will not even ask you that before deciding whether to line up. As long as you use heads with the correct bolt holes, and assemble the brackets correctly, they will line up.
2. Can't see why not, if whatever particular one you bought is physically compatible with whatever brackets you choose.
3. It would be better to get the whole pump; they don't all mount the same way, and reservoirs are different shapes to clear different things.
4. Yes. If you put a belt system on it the that turns the water pump in reverse, then you need a reverse water pump. This has nothing to do with engine displacement.
5. Depends on the brackets. You probably won't have a choice. The single serpentine belt setup will switch them.

Okay thanks for the help. ONe more question though
Is there any difference between the power steering pump I have and one from another car like say a caprice. Or would I just be best off to find a 88+ camaro?
