Anything that would kill a starter?
My starter went many days ago. I got a mechanic to come over a fix it--said it should last for 6 months. Lasted for 2 days! Been sitting 5 days now.
I am worried the same thing will happen, even if I get a brand new one. So is there anything that could kill a starter?

it did crank but never started...and now it won't crank--not the battery--it has been tested.
I'd say he repaired the starter--said it would last 6 months. Something about the camutator.

You should have B+ always on the large cable at the starter. If you have less than B+, there is high resistance in that cable(corrosion, looseness). You should have B+ on the small wire at the starter only when the key is turned to crank. If you have no voltage at the small wire, you have a problem with that wire or the IGN switch. If you do have voltage at the small wire and it doesn't start then the starter is probably junk.
