Billet Power Steering Pulley???
I am looking to get billet pulleys from Summitracing.com for my 1982 Z28.Anyone running these on their car?I know which alternator, water pump and crank pulleys to get..that was easy. The power steering pulley is the question.I am looking at part # SUM-G3975 which states it is for early model GM PS pumps. From the pic they give it seems to have a keyway in it.Does anyone know if an 82 PS pump has a key way on the pump shaft in it or is it a press fit pulley from the factory?I asked the tech at Summit and he said yeah but kinda like a "yeah whatever" answer.Any other power steering pump pulleys in billet that you know of will definitely work on my 82?
i'm running a set from march on my 91....not that it helps you any but they were the only company i could find that made a all included set with the right pulleys. i know a few of summit ones will work, but regardless never trust a catalog picture for anything more then a general description.

I payed about $200 for the alt, water, & crank aluminum pulley set. Another $70 or so for the power steering pulley...
All use 6 rid serpentine, so you'll never throw a belt.

Well after seeing that I am going to hold off and save to get that exact March setup as ronterry.I did a search yesterday and found some of your old posts when you first did the swap and saw those pics and decided I would save for the kit. Here is my final question..What made you get the BB steering pulley?I noticed on Summit's site that part number (MCH-624) lists it for a 396-454?If it works..it works so I will get it...just curious? And is that the March billet fan for the alternator on your car ronterry?I was looking at that also. Thanks for all your help guys..saved me money buy not buying the Summit pulleys only to regret it later and then buy the March setup.I hate when I do that..all to often.

I went off of March's website. It has #624 listed as the optional power steering pulley for the high water flow ratio. I think summit has it listed wrong, cause believe me I double checked that over a year ago.

I have the alternator bracket which makes tightening easy, but I still havn't got around to getting the power steering bracket. (YET) I'm using a stock PS bracket that I picked up at GM for an 82 wo/AC.
I still can't tighten the PS worth been! I think that goes for any older stock GM PS bracket -slash- 'Rube Goldberg' deal. So there's a March PS bracket in my near future. There just so F'in expensive.

ooppp - the alternator fan, is not there's. I think it's just a cheap chrome one I had laying around.
I also didn't use the alternator snout, cause it was way to close to my fan. I just set it aside.
I have a wall full of discarded parts cause I didn't research them.
However anybody will do this if your prototyping a racecar for the first time. I swear I'm alway's upgrading, and it's costing me lots of money. I've learned now to just hold out for the better part, cause It will bug me till I have it. Then bang! I get the part, and another intermediate part goes on the wall. This trend is expensive, and I've learned better now...
No kids, but I hear on the mortgage!!! That sucker has a relentless way of bighting you on the *** every 30 days...
I ended up getting a little credit card just for my racecar. The limit is only a grand, which makes it easier to pay down. I tried staying away from using my debit card, cause that cuts into the regular bills. ( dang, I can't even imagine the toys I could have around here if I wasn't building this racecar. DO NOT TELL MY OLD LADY, SHE THINKS I'M BROKE

basically the same setup i have as well.....
couldn't use the cap on the alternator pulley though because of the 4" c.a.i. i love the looks of them but you don't really see them. i believe mine were a little more too, somewhere above 400 for the pulleys, brackets, and the belt.

same thing for everything..........
sure you can get some heads, save up and you can get better heads. it all depends on what your trying to do.
are you going to go and spend $600 for a BECOOL radiator? if you need it you will. i know for me it wasn't a choice, march is the only company that makes that particular setup and it's the only setup that would work on my engine.

Yeah I could get a set of heads for $400 but I like the AFR's I already own and have installed. To some $400 on pulleys is crazy..to me it is one of the few things I have yet to address on my Z...the function part is covered..now it's time to make it look a little nicer...to me..I could care less what others think.Everyone has there own tastes.ronterry and Kandied91z..many thanks for all the help with this.
