Youch this hurts
My car has died. Not completely, just temp. Yesterday I found the car was burning oil like it was it's job. I always had the valve seat problem but this was bad/constant burning. So I'm not going to be taking it to school (Ohio State). It's going to be sitting covered in a very clean barn. Only wish I could somehow protect against rodents because there are a lot. Please give me some hints. When I return every couple of months should I start her or let her sit? Okay, the car needs an engine now. Look at my other post.

Two things come to mind. If it were mine, I'd:
1. Remove the battery and store it indoors. If I could charge it every couple months, I would. Otherwise, I'd just leave it disconnected at room temperature.
2. I'd have a full or nearly full tank of gasoline to keep condensation to a minimum.
Since you're having engine problems, I wouldn't worry about it.
Some might suggest putting it on blocks to remove spring tension. Don't know if it'd help extend the life of the springs any. Certainly wouldn't hurt.

I would try to have it started every so often. Main reasoning is so the fuel injectors don't get gummed up from varnished (sitting) fuel. With the gas in the tank, fill it up most of the way to have the fuel pump submerged into the gasoline so the pump won't get varnished up (have had that problem and I know what a pain it is to replace!). The battery comment is a good idea. Rodents can be a pain. A few know my deals. If it makes you feel any better, get some of those rat poison pellets and put one box in the car on the floorboard somewhere and one where the battery usually sits. Rats and rodents won't stick around once they eat that stuff, they'll leave in search for water. When they drink the water, they'll die ... so just don't leave water in the car

I've got a few hints there.
