car wont start after warmed up

well i just got the aldl cable made and downloaded winaldl, but i only have a desktop. engine starts up just fine when cold, when warmed up, i can shut it off and when i try to restart, it just cranks over just fine and floods the engine and wont start, not even stumble. items replaced since problem are cts, ignition module, coil, wires and plugs. i have every thing to start scanning but need help with what i need to look for when scanning. i will pay a longdistance bill if someone is willing to help me this weekend. 5/29/03

I'm having a similar problem with my IROC...

In my case, I'm probably looking a needing a new set of injectors.

What is likely happening is that you have some loss of pressure in the fuel system, due either to a leaking injector, leaking fuel pressure regulator, or something in the tank. You might want to invest in a fuel pressure gague and test the fuel pressure over 15 to 20 minutes. Take readings at regular intervals (i.e. 5 min) and compare your results when cold to your results when warm (and unable to start). If you see significant pressure falloff on the warm run, that would explain your difficulty starting when warm.

Of course, none of that applies if you're not running a fuel-injected setup (at least I don't think...).

Hmm... not too sure how you're going to check the fuel pressure on a TBI car as I hear they do not have a Schraeder valve to check with. Perhaps somebody else could tell you.

RE: WinALDL... I have attempted to use it before. I even went as far as building the interface from scratch, but I never successfully used it as I could never figure out a way to get hooked up to the ALDL (no ALDL connector). Of course, I was also pretty frustrated at the time because I setup a whole desk outside and had to pull the desktop computer out of my room just to hook it up to my car. I just got a new laptop recently, so I plan on trying it again--only problem is, I have no serial port on this laptop...

What problems are you having with WinALDL? I assume that you have built the proper (2 transistor) interface for it...

well i built the one from the winaldl schematic with the one transistor and two or three resistors i cant really remember. but it seems to be workin, i can see what my iac, cts, map, tps, knock, rpm, speed and all that good stuff.

I have an '89 IROC. By no ALDL connector I meant no connector with which to connect my home-made interface to the ALDL interface. I should have been less ambiguous...

I was of the understanding that WinALDL required the 2-transistor interface, but I guess if you can see what you are seeing then the 1-transistor interface will work as well.
