Service Engine Soon light Comes on
Every so often, while driving, my Service Engine Soon light comes on. My car is a 91 Z28, 305 TPI with 5 spd. When this happens the car runs, accelerates, etc. normally. Do I need to check the codes???

you dont even need a code reader. just get a short wire or paperclip and jump terminals a & b of your aldl connector. if you need to know more on this or you dont know what a aldl is, check this website under tech articles.

That would happened to me only when i would drive get up to 40-55 mph after a morning start. I got a code 32 which is related to the EGR valve. I replaced the EGR valve and the code never appeared again. I got a little key to check the codes free from Autozone. If you have one near you just ask if you can have a key to check the engine codes(they should give you a key and instruction booklet). Hope this helps

R,
If I were getting an indicator light warning of a problem, I would want to check it out. You can scan the ECM for codes with no more than a paper clip and information:
The paper clip is your responsibility, the data is here:
GM Error Codes.pdf.
You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the file. (See link below.)

My car does that too. It all depends on how long I let it warm up in the morning. If I let it warm up for a couple of minutes, it won't come on during my trip to school. (15 miles) but if I'm in a hurry and only let it warm up for like 30 sec. then it comes on.
