My car keeps stalling in at stop lights.......

It starts to idle really low and then it just stalls when idling for a while. My car does have a ping on acceleration and I think I need an EGR valve. Any ideas????

Mine used to do that too, but then I adjusted the tps with a volt meter and then cleaned off the IAC sensor as well.

IROC,

Bishop is right. The TPS and IAC are a good starting point. After the IAC pintle and air passages have been cleaned, check/reset the minimum air position of the throttle. If you have to adjust the throttle position, recheck the TPS voltage after the throttle position is set.

This would be a good thing to do in conjunction with a general tune up if you haven't done so recently. Check plug condition. meter the plug wires, inspect cap & rotor, clean PCV, check filters, etc. You don't have to replace everything, just check the components you're currently using.

The pinging you get on hard accelleration won't be helped by the EGR. Pinging under mild accelleration at cruise can be helped by the EGR, and overall combustion chamber temperatures can be higher if the EGR is not functioning (which may contribute to hard accelleration detonation), but hard accelleration shuts the EGR completely. You might want to check the base timing setting while you're tuning. After the base timing is set, and while the timing light is still connected, you can check the total advance of the ECM/EST at idle. Reconnect the EST bypass connector and read the total advance. You should get another 10-15° advance at idle from the EST. As you "blip" the throttle, the advance should return closer to base timing briefly.

A similiar problem happened to me and it was a faulty ground between the battery and the body(not the engine ground).
