oil pan change

i'm looking into changing my oil pan . any of you guys do this with the motor in the car? is this possible ? i've got a400 in my car don't know if the crank makes adifference

Well I was able to do it in mine with a 350 and 700r4 so I would imagine that you should have no problems. All I did was take out the distributor so it didn't hit the firewall, undo the motor mount bolts, undo the exhaust, and jack it up as high as it can go. You should be able to just barely slide it out. Good luck, it's a pain in the you know what. Also, you won't have much fun with the gasket when you put it back on.

It is possible. Just out of curiousity, why would you change the pan and nothing else?

the reason iwant to do it now is i have the money for the pan i want which i didn't when the motor was rebuilt.just upgrading as money permits

if you are changing the pan you should also put in a better oil pump... make sure your pan has a windage tray, if you are changing it might as well go the whole 9 yards
