Its been awhile
Hey everybody, hows it going? I havent posted in almost a year and i wanted to say hey. i kinda have a sad story. A year ago i sold my camaro. ( this was stupid). I needed money for school and the car was just gettin to expensive so i had to let it go. i sold it to a kid who had just graduated high school I ended up buying an economy car to try and save money. about 3 months later, the kid called me and said he wrecked the car. He offered to sell me parts. i put over 2 years of blood and sweat into that car, and he killed it in 3 months. i can honestly say that selling my baby was a huge mistake, and ive missed it almost since the day i sold it. As of late, im driving a nissan to save some cash. I was lucky enough to drive my bosses 91 camaro last week ( its only got a 3.1L) and it just brought all the old memories back. Ive made the decision; im workin my *** off, and im buying another one within 6 months. So i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions. Im thinkin of gettin an iroc/ z28 from between 88' and 92'. Either 350 tpi w/ an auto, or 305 w/ a manuel. The other alternative is a 91-92 RS w/ a 5-speed. Im leaning toward the RS, just cause there pretty abundent and a little cheaper. You guys have any suggestions?
And for the admins, i apologize for posting this here, but there was really nowhere else i could think of to post it.
in memory of my camaro

91,
You're right, and wrong.
Right: This isn't completely "tech", but welcome back. I'd look for the straightest body you can find, then worry about the driveline. You'll probably change whatever you get anyway. If you're going for lots of torque, try to avoid the 'T' tops and drop-tops unless you really plan to stiffen the undercarriage more than normal, as in custom extra heavy, extra long subframe connectors, extra crossmember, etc.
Wrong: It's just my opinion, but what would have been really "stupid" is keeping the car and NOT finishing school. You'll probably never regret that.
Just consider the old '91 as another learning experience. Everything you did that worked well you can transfer to a new car. Everything that didn't work out so well you is just another chance to do over, and better, next time. And now you stand to have a better position from which to fund your "habit".

i agree with vader i have to say that This is a learning expierence like my buddy who got rid of his f-body for mustangs and each one blew up or blew up an oil pump! lol
as for ideas... I would go with 350... i say that cuz i'm stuck with my 305 TBI and as much as i love it i really wish i had TPI.
I would have to say go with t-tops because to me theres nothing better than driving around in the summer with th tops off... maybe you can get lucky and find all this in a manual? maybe someone did an engine swap.
good luck in the future

I definately agree with the whole " school is more important" idea. Im about half way done with my AA as of now. And i do look at my old 91 as a learning experience as well. i spent alot of money on that car that was just wasted on experimental mods and whatnot. After what ive learned from that car and others, along with info from this and other sites, id say i have a better understanding of f-bodys.
I have a few ideas for the future car. I will definatly be putting headers/ ypipe and a flowmaster setup on it. Im also lookin for an lt1 cam as of now. After that, its the consideration of tbi or tpi. i like the tbi b/c im more acustom to it and the lo3 seems to have easier RPM potental. The tpi will have more torque, but im lookin for a car i can pull to at least 5500-6000. As much as i hate to admit it, it seems the only way to beat the vtec hondas is to have a formitable rpm band. i could do it with a tpi car, but then i would have to do the siamese runner mods. the other perk of the tpi cars is they are gemeral geared better than the RS. Its alot to consider, and id really like to know some opinions. Thanks alot for any feedback.
