When i had the head gasket replaced on my truck the guy just said run it for 50 or so miles then put fresh oil in it and replace the filter . There is some stuff(can't recall the name)an oil additive, it claims to help flush and clean all the interanls as you drive, then change the oil after so many miles/kms

Antifreeze has a tendency to leach away the soft metal on bearing faces, so unless you want to get into the crank and rods, you might want to get all the antifreeze out of there until you're ready to dig into it. Drain the oil and cooling system.
When you disassemble, have the heads checked for cracks, and make absolutely certain they are not warped. You should also check the deck for warpage. If the engine is a high-miler, it might be a really good time to touch up the valves and install new springs.
Refill the cooling system with plain water until you're certain the head gaskets have been heated enough to seal and aren't going to leak again.

Thank you very much for your direction. I'll do just that. this i'll be my first head gasket fix. you know i checked the engine oil dipsit and i didnt see any milky colored oil. he mentioned it might be the head gaskets, but are there any other ways to check without tearing the entire engine down ? I think he drove the car and it overheated to the point where it stopped on him, then he was unable to start it.. Im thinking he siezed the engine.
