What are symptoms of timing being too far advanced?

I'm wondering if my timing is too far advanced, so I need to know what the symptoms would be for a 305 TBI. Thank You for your response.

Car: yep
Engine: uhuh
Transmission: sure does
Hard starting (doesn't want to crank)

Pinging..

Run on (dieseling)..

Extreme cases, higher engine temp..

The best thing to do if you think its too far advanced is to check it.

That is the only way to be sure.
