I just did a milage test with my new 88 Formula 305 TPI A4 and got 16mpg with mixed driving.

On the highway, I was usually cruising at 60-75 with light throttle.
I did 2 runs to 105mph to see how she ran at speed.
City driving was usually quick acceleration to the limit and then cruise the limit.
Car was in OD 90% of the time.

Does this sound about right, or should I be seeing more milage.
I have changed plugs already, will do O2 sensor, Dist cap, rotor, and wires when I get some more cash.

 

well, if its any comparison, i get avg 20-22 with the same style of driving out of my '89 IROC with TPI 305/5-speed combo and a 3.27 gear...

I think alot has to do with it being an automatic.

Before the T5 swap my IROC consisently knocked down 15-16 mpg in 50/50 city / hwy driving, and that's not being too easy on it.

Now with the T5, and having FUN driving it, I regularly get 18-20 mpg with the same driving mix. All highway resulted in 23 mpg. 3.23 gears and a .63 OD are good
