Oil Leak!

My car has had an oil leak, but it was so small before that I thought nothing of it. But now today, I almost lost all of my oil today after driving to work. I checked my oil at work and it was on the very tip of the dip stick! So I went got some to put in. And it still left a nice oil spot in the parking lot when I was done with work. My question is, do our cars have any known oil leak problems I should know about? Any common places I can check(the only ones I can think of are oil filter and oil pan gasket) for once I get a chance to look under the car? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
Tony

86,

Common places for oil to leak are:

Rocker cover gaskets;
Distributor gasket:
Intake end seals;
Oil pressure switch;
Oil filter;
Drain plug;
Timing cover;
Oil pan gasket;
Front case bolt (right of the timing cover);
Timing cover seal;
Rear main seal;
Oil cooler lines and adapter;
Gallery plug on the left rear ledge of the block or above the oil filter boss.

If your engine is clean, you sjould easily be able to find the source through a thorough inspection.
