How $$$ much for a 49k mile L98??

How much you think it's worth. It's all original and runs like new except it need valve seals replaced. It would come w/ everything that I wouldn't need to make a Buick 3.8L swap.

I paid $5000 for my 87 IROC 350 with 79K on it, so figure about $5500 to $6000 if its in nice shape as mine is.

Ughh... 5000 for a used L98 ? You're smoking crack. Lots of it... LOL

I'd pay 1000 maybe 1200 for it, not more.

Are you talking about the whole car or just the engine?

$5500-$6000 for the car.
$750-$1000 for the engine.

BTW - if it only has 49,000 miles, why does it need valve seals? Sounds like someone rolled back the odometer. DOH!!

That sounds kinda fishy to me too. My engine has 80K before it dies and the seals were perfectly fine.

You can't equate valve seals to milage. My father's 79 Chevy truck puffed blue smoke since day 1.

if you are just buying the engine,,,,200-500 depending on how much of the tpi you are getting. remember, you may have to spend more on the overhaul than you think.

I agree with Jim, in fact i think low mileage will do the same as high mileage to valve seals on an old car, being that they could dry up against the valve and wear faster before oil makes it up there
ive heard of many 40k mile motors with bad valve seals

My 89 L98 motor had bad seals at 28,000 miles thats what initially forced me to begin my mod upgrades.

Why would you cut up a low mileage L98 to put in a 3.8? Why not find something with a high-mileage bad engine or something?
