oil or tranny?

well they are both in about the same spot. passenger side, beside or close to the dist.

tranny dip stick should be closer to the firewall..

the oil dipstick on a 305 is on the passenger side. So if you go to get an oil pan gasket and you've changed your engine, make sure u tell them that its for a 350 cause a 350 (least mine) is on drivers sider.

Save you some hassel perhaps.

I think pre '80 blocks had driverside dipstick. Also on the pre 80's, the dipstick goes right into the block, unlike post 80 blocks where the dipstick goes into the pan on the passenger side.
