I went back and checked my tps I have it set on 0.54volts, but at wide open throttle I can only get 3.60 volts out of it. Does this mean the tps is bad? I had it tested at autozone and the guy said it was good, he said he compared it to a new one out of the box and the readings were the same.I know the reading should be over 4.0 volts at wide open throttle.

 

What is the reference voltage across the top and bottom terminals of the sensor? It should be 5.0 VDC.

 

the reading across the top and the bottom terminals are 5.01 of the tps

 

When you go to WOT are using the gas pedal or turning it by hand?
If you are using the pedal then the throttle cable may be stretched.

 

I was opening up the throttle by hand and at wide open the tps only reads 3.60 volts. I have it set at 0.54volts and have checked the voltage between the top and bottom and it reads 5.01volts.

 

Make sure teh throttle plates are fully closed in the "idle" position. Reset the TPS idle voltage to 0.54V, then check the span voltage again.

 

where does the input voltage come from? mine is only getting 4.3 volts, but i don't have a manual or wiring diagram on me. does it get fed from the ECM? or would it be possible just to get a 7805 voltage regulator and run a new input line off the battery/fuse box? or does that 5v wire go to other circuits?

 

i checked to see that throttle plates were fully closed and they were.set tps and same reading. changed tps, set to .54 and still same readings the highest it will go is 3.9 volts at wot

 

The reference voltage is sourced from a 5VDC regulated supply in the ECM. It serves other devices as well, like the MAP.

Try to manually move the TPS lever to see if you can read 5.0V at full scale.
