Tranny jults hard...

I have an automatic transmission, and when I put it into reverse, or drive, it causes the car to jolt really hard... Jolts harder when put into drive than in reverse though. Once in drive it shifts through the gears perfectly. Any idea's why it does this or how to fix it? All input is appreciated!

Check the idle on the car. If it idles too high it could cause the jolt. Also check U-Joints, leave the car in park and turn back and forth looking for slop. Finally, have someone hold the brake on and put the car in drive and reverse. Pay attention to how much the engine moves, could be a sign of bad motor or tranny mounts.

I've also heard that a throttle valve cable may be out of adjustment causing what you're saying. Check out the tech articles for instructions.
