I'm assuming you're talking '84 T/A - I've got one with a factory power bulge and it does come with the honeycomb 'grille'. I'm positive of this as I'm the only owner and I know it's never been touched.

Hope this helps!

oh sorry bout that, its an 83 t/a... the original induction might have been changed when it was still a 305, i recently swapped it for a 350... the reason i ask is because i heard that there were functional induction type power bulge hoods... just wonderin if my car originaly came with that...

I think they aren't functional because of where the water will go! A guy here with a TPI completely ruined his engine by taking off the block on his power bulge. The first thing that went was his distributor. Some guys say it's good to hae it open to cool the engine , which is also B.S. I tried it for 3 days and my engine did not run any cooler at all. anyway, sorry about getting off topic, it just brought back a memory.

Actually, the "bulge" is functional on some models of T/A. I've got an '84 that originally had a carbed 5.0, High Output motor. The bulge is functional in that when you go to WOT, the computer sends a signal to a hood mounted solenoid, and opens a door in the bulge. This feeds outside air into the carb via the air-cleaner cover, which has a gasketed opening to allow the additional air in.

Right, what Gman said. That's the exact setup I have and I believe it only came with the H.O. option.
