How do I check for vacuum leaks?

Hey, I know it may sound pathetic, but how else can a guy learn if he don't ask?

Close the throttle blades of whatever induction you have all the way...in other words turn the idle speed screw all the way out. If it still runs....air must be getting in somewhere else. IE a vacuum leak.
