I used a flat blade screw driver just tapped around it as it went in. They do have a tool for it but i dont know were to get one. If you have some pipe stock you could probably make your own.
Dont forget to set the right height from the bottum of the pan. And its a good idea to braze the pickup to the pump so it doesnt fall off.

Jeg's, Summit or PAW have the tool MikeH is refering to (Oil Pump Screen Installation Tool). They sell for $19.95 for the 5/8" tube or $21.95 for the 3/4" tube

Z28,
Just in case you didn't see it in Mike's post, definitely BRAZE the pickup tube to the pump once the depth and angle are set.
You'll sleep better if you do - trust me.

brazing isn't welding. if you do anything weld it, less heat input. i prefer to weld a brace to the pick up and bolt it to the pump. no chance for warpage that way.

I use a wire feed and just tack it.
You don't need to weld all the way around the tube.
I usually set the pick up height, then take the pick up and the bottom of the oil pump housing off.
I weld it with it off to keep slag out of the oil pump. This also gives you a perfect time to fill the oil pump rotors with assembly lube.
Don't forget to put locktite on the four bolts that hold it together.
