Cam torque specs. 20ft.lbs??

My memory isn't that great, and I forgot where I put my chiltons . Is 20#'s good enough for the cam bolts? Also should I put anything on the threads to prevent it from loosening? Thanks guys.

Mike,

The spec for a SBC is 21 lb/ft (28 Nm). You do not have to apply a thread locking compound, If you are concerned, you could use a mild Loctite (like 242) or you can get a retainer plate that has locking tabs to secure the bolts.

I;ve never had a bolt come loose on the cam sprocket if properly torqued, but it could happen under severe circumstances, thus the availability of the plate.
