Question about sealing holes in Headers...

Since Florida ditched the e-check I cut the air tubes off my SLP headers, tapped the holes, custom cut allen head bolts to the exact length. My question is what should I seal them with? I am thinking High Temp Loctite. Once I get them in I am getting the headers coated with the plugs installed. They look kinda cool, better then blobs of welding slag. Whaddya think?

Like I said, I already tapped the holes, custom cut stainless allen head bolts, I don't want any bi-metallic corrosion (stainless -vs- copper) So welding the holes is not an option. Anyone else?

Here's a different twist on that idea, altho it's still not what you're looking for. You could have a welder close the bottom of the holes up, and then put your custom bolts back in the holes. You'd be keeping the same look.

Hay wait, Restomotive Labs (they make POR-15, the rust-stopping paint) has a new chemical that can actually seal up an exhaust manifold crack! Maybe you want to look into that! Their website is http://www.por-15.com and the product is called Fireseal 2000. You can find it under their "shop online" link.

Hey Rob, I did the same thing with my SLP's, however, I didn't use any type of sealant. When I tapped the holes I stopped just short of going all the way through. This way the s.s. set screw locks itself in place when you insert it. Worked great and they have been in there for a little over a year without backing out or leaking.
