what can i use to repair my heads?
The concesus seems to be that detonation tore up my rings which then were squashed between the pistons and heads. I really don't want to spend the $$ on new heads so I'm going to try to clean mine up first. What should I use? Dremel maybe?

a stone and an electric drill should do to de-burr any of the
marks in the combustion chamber. don't try to remove them completely, just smooth off any raised metal.
Then I would have the heads cut .005"/.007" to true the decks and remove the raised portion of the scares.
Make sure the valves are still sealing and they should be good to go.

Don't use a stone, those heads are alumnium and will quickly load up the stones with material and can cause catastrophic failure of the grinding stones.
Start out by cleaning the combustion chambers with some valvoline Synpower Carb/choke and throttlebody cleaner. That stuff eats through carbon like notihng else.
If you have an air compressor and die grinder, go to the auto parts store and get one of the 3M Scotchbrite kits that has a mandrel and disks in it (about $14) Use the brown disk to take down the really rough areas and the green ones to smooth it all out.

The Scotchbrite wheel, or a "wheel of death" paint stripper from a paint store, or a 3M Roloc pad, would do the job. That's really minimal damage, as I think you'll see when you get the heads cleaned up, I think they'll come out OK. I've seen a whole lot worse than that, that cleaned up and ran fine afterwards.
