Rough idle sluggish off the line

New to the site!

I have a '90 Formula 350. Car has sat for almost a year. It's sluggish off the line and a bit rough at idle. I am planning on changing the O2 sensor and giving it a fuel injection service/cleaning. Any other suggestions? I understand the O2 can accumulate condensation from sitting for extended periods of time that's why I have decided to change it. Also heard maybe the Idle Control Valve???? Thanks for any assistance.

How many miles are on the car, and is it a TPI? It could be a number of thing, so don't go and start changing things until you run some tests first. If the O2 sensor was bad, your check engine light would be on. Is it on? If so, have you checked for the codes? Just trying to help you save some money. Let me know

If its been sitting I would definitely say you need to clean your fuel system, and you probably need a tune up. you can always start there . Good luck

felo72;

I has 130K on it. And it is a TPI engine. No check engine light.

Cowboy,
If your idle is sluggish, check the IAC, TPS, and the timing. On the thirdgen home page, there is a tech section that has great directions on how to do this. While your at it, check the spark plugs, you'd be amazed how much of a difference they make. And one last thing, check the cap and rotor. Those are some inexpensive checks to see where your at. I wouldn't worry about the O2 sensor right now if the check engine light isn't on. Let me know how you make out.

I agree with everyone that you need a complete tuneup. If the car has been sitting for awhile I would also replace the fuel filter. Do a full tuneup(cap, coil, rotor, plug, wires, air & fuel filters). Also check the TPS and IAC like suggested by felo72.
