Need help Identifying this thing ...

Hello all !!

I have this sensor or sender or something on the passenger side of my engine by the dipstick, between cylinders 6 & 8.

All i know is that when i take it out, coolant comes pouring out.

I believe i need to get a new whatever it is and connector to go with it since they have both kind of dissintigrated. but i'm having troubles identifying what the thing is in the first place let alone where to get it. i was at a GM dealer today, twice, once to get the part i thought it was and then to return it since it wasn't the right part. and when i went back and talked with the guy, he had no idea what it was either.

Engine: 92 L98 B2L pretty much stock everything.

I just am at a loss right now

any help is bery much appreciated

Kyle

That is your Primary cooling fan switch, not a very good GM dealership if they can't tell you what the part is. There is also another one on the driverside head between #1 & #3 cylinder this one controls the auxillary cooling fan switch for when the car goes over 220* it will kick on the second fan.

hey thanks guys !!

i know about the one on the driver's side, it's way easier to see.

will it be killer for the engine/car if it's not working up to snuff?
i have manual switches for the fans hooked and have them running ......

is a GM dealer the best/easiest/cheapest place to get that part?

thanks again,

Kyle

I would just get it fixed Kyle. Out of sight, out of mind kinda deal. Some auto jobbers may have it, like Napa. I don't think it is a dealer part, plus I don't remember them being that expensive.
