ACK! code 43 on a TBI!
ok I've looked all over the place for the remedy for a code 43 on a TBI 92 camaro. unfortunately all I could find was the remedy for TPI 3rd gens. so here I am asking to for a remedy for my problem.
I don't think it's the EST itself because it's fairly new ( I replaced it less than a year ago when my old one really did die)
Where do I go from here?? I'm thinking of checking the car's timing to make sure it's not terribly untimed or whatnot, but any idea's would be extremely helpful.
Thanks a lot

The code 43 is invoked if either one of two tests fail. The first is run-away knock. If the ESC system is reporting endless knock (such as from an open wire or bad ESC filter) then a code 43 will be set.
The second cause is a failure of the forced knock test. The ECM will try to force knock by adding a lot of timing when in heavy throttle. Failure to detect knock during this period will set code 43.
It is this second one that gives folks the most grief. Higher octane fuel and modifications can prevent this knock from occurring.

from the description it sounds like the second one.
My code 43 popped up as I mashed the gas. (playing with the new headers)
As I mashed the gas the engine almost sounded like it tried and then it just didn't go (like a 4 cyl). It was that time I noticed the service engine had come on with my code 43.
How do I remedy this problem? Is it possible that my timing (I have it slightly advanced past 0) needs to be adjusted?

Me, I just like patching that stupid test out. Who wants their engine being forced to knock. . .

How do you perform the patch? I'm unfarmiliar with it.

ok I fixed the code 43 and as soona s I Can I'm going to try to patch it.
My car still feels a little sluggish any reason?
I timed it to 4 degrees as you said and that got rid of the 43, but it still doesn't feel as powerful (kick in the pants) as it should be any guesses?
I'm wondering if I should look into a new torque converter eventually.
