Scan tool, buy one????

I was thinking of buying an AutoXray but their website doesn't tell me what information you get from the scan tool. Can anyone tell me what info it gives and whether it's worth it for not.

I was reading about it in Summit Racing the other day and was wondering the same thing...if it was worth it or not??

Also will it work on the 99+ GM trucks or the LS1 engines. I know it said you would get the OBD1 and OBDII cables but don't you normally have to get updates/cards for the expensive scanners pretty regular due to the changing of computers and how they operate.

Ya know what I'd go for? The Diacom software. What's awesome is, it can run on the first IBM computers ever made (PC, next was XT,AT,286,386,486,Pentium,...), and you can find those for dirt cheap (sometimes even see 'em in the roadside garbage)! Or a cheap $40 laptop from E-bay will power it too. All ya need is the computer, a floppy drive, and a monochrome monitor. You don't even need a hard drive!

The website is http://www.rinda.com , since the Diacom software's made by Rinda Technologies.

I have an older OBDI autoX and really like it. What parameters you can monitor depends on the year, engine, and vehicle. In general most things the ECM sees, you can also. Very valuable for troubleshooting and tuning. For the price, its a pretty nice little unit. The one thing Diacom does do is allow you to see a bunch of parameters at one time, whereas with the autoX, you have to scroll through. Not sure on the 99 or LS1, might check their website - www.autoxray.com

I have the autoxray and It shows me all I want, one thing i'm missing is the possibility to make graphics on it but you can buy a spec. software for that....

Diacom- go for EASE instead! www.easesim.com
