lately my car has been dumping me on the side of the road when i drive it in hot weather, i can run it as long as i want at night when it is cold, and it will never die, but it seems that if i drive it in very hot weather for more than 20 or 25 minutes, it will just die. when it dies it just sutters for like 3 seconds then just dies, and can not be restarted until several hours later when it has cooled down. by the way it is a 91 r.s. with the LO3, if you have any ideas id greatly appreciate your help

when it happend, check for fire at the wires and check if the fuel pump prime.
no sparks = coil or module inside cap.
no gas = bad news this cost alot.
need to drop the diff to lower the fuel tank, to get to the fuel pump.
if its gas related the fuel filter should be change too.
---
its hard to check for fire alone, but if you have the "real" spark tester that look like a spark plug, you could snap it in a way that you see it from the little cap that the hood makes.
---
for fuel, key on should make a buzzing noise... being 2 help also, one can put his heard in the fillerneck with cap off.
You should also have a little valve on the fuel rail, if you press it with **a car key** maybe, you should have fuel (be gentle, its will spit everywhere), if none, the pump has stoped pumping.

yeah, i guess i forgot to mention that i already replaced all the plugs, the plug wires, the whole damn distribtutor, and the ignition module, so i know its not any part of the ignition. i also listened for the whirr sound when the key is turned and its there, clear as day. so i think ill try the little valve but i dont know, this is really pissing me off and i would really like to have it corrected

sorry im not much in FI stuff since i have a carb, but i know a little of the newer desing, TBI hum... i have no idea realy how you can check for gas when alone, maybe unscrew the fuel tube to see if any in it, but thats not a good idea (you dont want it to break).
you should still make sure you have good sparks, you can use a screw driver that you put in the wire boots and place it in a way that the metal part is close but not touching a gounded part of the carb, tricky since your sitting in the car to crank it and trying to see it is not easy.
tbi tbi tbi, take off air cleaner, look at the thottle plate, dry ?
open the throttle with your hand, if you can see down in the intake, dry? --- that is after you tried to restard and it did not.
if its wet, well you can flood it if you go on and crank it forever. wich mean, too much fuel or weak sparks. if sparks present, floor the pedal to the floor when trying to start it will add more air then fuel.

How hot is it running before it dies?
And maybe check your injector.. it may be partially clogged.

the temperature is perfect, and i dont nkow if it would be an injector though, i mean why would it work perfectly and then die when its been running in hot weather, so i dont think that its the injectors. and this is killing me, i mean its my only car and im a teenager so i need to get from place to place. i have had people suggest that its the fuel pump, because we have an 86 corvette with the L98 and it did the same thing, it would die only in hot weather. so i think next time it dies i will turn the key to accessory and listen for the fuel pump when it wont start up and see if it makes noise or not. and depending how that goes, i will hook up a fuel pressure tester guage and see if im pushing the right psi or not, thanks for the help so far
