Is my car REALLY that heavy???

I dont know if anyone else has seen this before, but I am sure californians have.
I took my car to get smogged a while back. I was looking at it the other day and on the page with all the stats and levels it has vehicle weight. It said mine was 3785lbs. I thought our cars weighed alot less than that. I thought they were like 3400-3500. The only thing they used to wiegh it was holding up just the rear wheels.

Is this accurate? or is it always off? Anyone else notice this?

Brian

I always figured my Z28 weighed about 3200-3300lbs..

I dunno.. is that with a full tank of gas? A full tank weighs a ton.. And I know Firebirds are typically heavier than a similar Camaro, for some reason.

1/4 tank of gas. 5.7 auto cc pw pdl pm ac. I have maybe 100lbs of stuff in it. And even if it was with the guy in it, he only weighed maybe 170lbs.

Yeah man I live at like 64th and 142nd; I put Vancouver just because it is more well-known than Surrey. I discovered the scale when it snowed heavily that one night in like January and we went to their lot to do some bumper snowboarding. 3205lbs without me in the car and about 2/3 tank of gas.

GTA's are a couple hundred pounds heavier than regular TA's and birds. Matt

Mine was 3760 with lots of gas, me, stuff in the back, spare, jack, etc.

The truck stops will let you weigh for like $5-10 bucks if you don't have a dragstrip around with a scale.

Once I put all the pieces on my car again, we should meet there and weigh in again sometime. Shouldn't take me much longer than a week.

my car is very very light. with like 1/16 tank of gas, t-tops off, empty trunk, no one in the car, no power options, no spare/jack... my car weighs 2900... is my car a freak or something? i weighed my car at a recycling center that weighed the trucks.
with me in the car, the car weighs 3061.

I have a 89 z28, and at teh strip the car weighs in at 3620 with my 190lb butt in it and a 1/4 tank of gas. There is no jack / junk or tools in teh car when its weighed in. Gas weighs 6.5 lbs per gallon so teh 16 gallon tanks would only weigh a tad over 100 lbs when full....
