It's just detail stuff, they all use LS1s from 98 and up. The bodies even look the same.

The '98 LS1's also had a beefier fuel system.

better fuel system???? not exactly.... what the 98s have that the 99s don't as far as the fuel system go are around 28# injectors and a metal gas tank (meaning you can run a racetronics plug and play fuel pump) , while the 99s have around 26 # injectors and plastic fuel tanks. other differences are that on 98s not all of the gaskets on the front of the gaskets are reusable, but you can put the 99+ gaskets on there... and some of the 98s have borg warner trannies instead of tremec like the 99+...

oh yeah and the 99s are newer

Borg Warner? Well it's still a T56 right? Tremec bought Borg Warner's manual trans division.

The 98s' had a single outlet exhaust. '99 and up had dual pipes.

Strange as it may seem the rear bumber was molded for 2 outlets, but only one pipe emitted from the rear of '98s. Check out some pics you'll know what I mean. Power for '98 and '99 was the same. Trans Ams' were rated at 305hp, those with WS6 checked in at 320hp.
