Car won't start after head and cam swap. Help me troubleshoot.
Okay I just got done putting everything back together from doing a head and cam swap. The first time I tried to start the car it started really rough (I mean really rough) and it died (10 sec) after I let off the accelerator. I felt the headers and they were already hot which made me believe the timing is way off. I adjusted it and still no go(won't even start). Could it be that the distributor is off by 180? (Would the car even start like it did if it was?). Help me out guys.

Your distributor is one tooth off, in the CCW direction. Pull it out, turn the oil pump drive rod and dist shaft about 30° (1/12 turn) CW, and drop it back in.

I had the same problem when I did heads/cam on my car.
First - how big is your cam? You will probably have to open up the throttle body plates using the set screw.
Second - quadruple check your sparkplug wires to the spark plugs. Make 110% sure they are in the right order. Make sure the rotor is pointing right at the #1 spark plug on the cap with the engine at #1 TDC.
Those were my problems. I had to adjust the throttle stop screw and I had two wires switched and the distributor was off a tooth or two.

For your guys information its a LPE216 w/ ~.5" lift. I double checked everything but I'll try to rotate the distro and see how that works. I am also getting a check engine light.
Couldn't I just rotate the distributor instead of the rotor to test if that is the problem??
