305 .060 over. What head gasket to use?
Had the heads off for some porting. Last time I used a universal small block gasket with the 4.100 size I think. I stupidly spent the extra money on the wire shimmed type because I was running a 100hp shot of nitrous. I was told the stock head gasket could handle this easily anyhow. I was told to use the correct 305 gasket. I am concerned it won't be big enough since they didn't design this gasket to be on a max bore 305. Should I just use a regular old 350 headgasket?
(Note: Before anyone goes nuts when seeing it's a 305 .060 over, I didn't do this. I bought it as a crate motor a few years back)

Donb't use a FelPro gasket. Get a GM gasket instead. The bore diameter is reported to be 3.870". I know the GM gaskets are large enough to install under Worrld D/R Torquer 305's, and they recommend a 350 gasket for chamber/valve clearance. In GM gaskets, the stock 305 will work.

Did a little more reading. I think I am better off with a stock 350 gasket. My heads have larger 1.94 valves installed. So they are probably similar to the Worlds 305 heads. Looking at the outline of the old gasket, it was just a little too big but not much. By the way is there any thing wrong with Fel pros that I should be aware of? They are cheaper.
There's nothing wrong with FelPro gaskets that I'm aware of. I only know that the GM stock gaskets are sized for a little more clearance in most service situations (like overbore, etc.) and that the stock GM 305 head gaskets work great with the World S/R 305 heads, whereas the FelPros don't because of bore interference. I've checked them myself on World heads (and have installed them under World heads).
