rebuilt engine burning oil

A couple months ago I blew a head gasket while drag racing. After I replaced them I started burning oil pretty bad. It was all the time too, not just at startup. Since then I rebuilt the engine but reused my heads. Now it runs great but still burns oil. The valve seals only have around 6k on them. Any ideas on what's going on? If the guides were worn would it smoke all the time or just at startup?
