Need help with compressor!

Ok, I just charged my AC with some R12, and I thought that would solve my problems. But it still doesn't out out cold air. I noticed that the clutch(it's that triangle thing, right?) on my compressor only engages for a little bit and then it slips. Should this be happening, and if not, then how can I fix it?

Your low pressure cutout on the accumulator is probably shutting off the compressor after it suck the low side down. Chances are, you need more refrigerant, but use a gauge mainfold to monitor pressure when you top it off.
