Leaving Cars Parked ??

Hi still trying to learn about these cars.My question is what should i do/not do when leaving these cars(third gens) parked for long periods of time,The reason i ask is both my 82 firebird and 85 trans am have been parked since april i HAVE driven the cars around the block to to keep the fluids circulating but have not driven them every day.Now at this moment the 85 wont start has battery/electric problem ? And the 82 does start every time but has a trans leak.If anyone can help thanks

just leave them parked. your not doing snything bad to them by leaving them alone. Just make sure you dont let it sit too too long as the gas goes bad. just keep doing what your doing and you will be fine. if you hear a real weird noise under the hood it may be a nice big rat nesting under the fan. open the hood now and then and look for nest. they can cause fires.

Take a ride past your local Chevy dealer. Take a mental picture of the cars on the lot. Do the same about a month later. Many of the vehicles will not even have moved. That's pretty typical. After a few months, I'd be concerned about the battery's state of charge and tires not moving, but a month or two at a time isn't a real issue. It's possible that the battery on the '85 is just getting weak. I lost a battery on my '96 after about six years of just sitting in the garage, starting every couple of months just too keep things moving. It looked brand new (like the rest of the car) but wouldn't hold any kind of charge. It happens.

another concern is flatspotting the tires. I let mine sit for a month and all four of my avs intermediats flatspotted. Not a problem with stock tires but if you have soft rubber, its a concern.

leaving car parked

Thanks guys for the help.In the time the cars have been parked the 82 firebird had 1 flat tire in the back but it turned out just to be dirt. And the 2 front tires did get flat spoted but they were bad tires anyways. And also the front seal on the trans leaked,it was fine before i parked it but i guess it happend cause of the cars age or wild oklahoma weather? my guess is with some fuel cleaner and new tires and better battery for the kitt car i'll be fine.thanks for everyone's help

Myns been sittin for ALMOST 11 years. Yes, eleven years. Someone drained the gas, (for good reason) so we had to fill that up, but it was in excellent condition. The battery in this car, had to have been replaced not long ago, because it looked new, like a year old or so but she didn't want to start. After blowing 60 dollars on a good battery (got a deal), it STILL did not start. Turned out to be the starter. Overall, nothing was really SERIOUSLY wrong with my car, other than my spark knocks, but my problems were.

Low Tire pressure
Speedometer gears were locked SOLID
Needed oil change (10 year old oil )
Rebuilt mini starter (POS)
Emergency Brake does NOT work...AT ALL
Possible worn out U-Joints in my drive shaft.
Spark knocks.

Nothing really serious, just e-brake is necessary, and the spark knocks, but everything has been fixed except them too, and the possible U-Joints. Who knows, it could be better or worse, but letting them sit for long periods of time is the worst thing you could do to it, (without bein a idiot and changin stuff in motor, like advancing your timing to hell) It's good you run it around the block some, that helps.
