First off I own a 1989 firebird formula 350, TPI
My car is very slow, one thing that bothers me is a weird ticking/rattling noise coming from the distributor, it is not the distibutor itself but the unit left to it. I have no idea what it does, the main spark plug wire is coming off of it, something with the coil I guess. When I push down on it the noise stops, I am wondering if it could be that, The plugs/wires are ok, Replaced the rotor and cap a while ago, rebuild tranny, new exhaust. Another thing that wories me is the fuel intectors, how can you tell if they are bad, my car used to run 13.93 in quater when I first got it now it probably runs 17's. I am thinking the a injector is bad. Please help me out here if you can thanks!
and what are the signs of a bad injector?

 

Check the timing, plug gaps, fuel and air filters, that may help you, and not cost alot.
That thing that the main spark plug wire comes off of IS the coil. If it stock, replaceit with a hi-perf one. $30 from Northern auto. 45,000 volts. I can say i likethe one I got. If when you push it back down, it runs better, change it. Change it anyhow you will be happier.

As far as the injectors, i never messed with htem sorry i cant help you there.

what do you mean by fuel?
the filter is new I have no idea how to check anything else!
