Vortec Heads

Since many here have a 305 I figured it was the place to get the right answer. Is there a set of vortec heads built for the 305 ? If so,what's the comb.chamber size, port vol;and flow rate? I 've seen a 305 with rpm manf; comp 262 xe cam; and 9:1 cr that made 325 hp/ 310 ft lb torque @ 5500 rpm's. Also has anyone had a firsthand expirence with this cam[comp 262xe] compared to a single pattern cam like the comp. 268?

Yes there is a 305 version of the L-31 96+ 350 vortec head.

Its found on 96+ 305 vortec truck motors.

it has 58cc chambers and smaller 1.84" intake valves.
The ports are essentually the same as the 350 vortec head.
Being raised and high flow design.
This 305 vortec head uses the same vortec manifold bolt pattern
as the 350 head. (requires a vortec manifold)
The combustion chamber is smaller and not the same shape as
the L-31 head. More like a 305 TPI head. (081 casting)
The 305 vortec head has casting number 12558059

This 305 vortec head will make more power than other 305 heads. It can be improved with larger valves too.
With larger 350 sized valves it should perform simular to 350 vortec heads as the ports are essentually the same.

Thats up to you. The 350 L-31 heads are going to make more power because of the larger intake valve and the heart shaped combustion chamber. The chamber size is 64cc's.

But the lesser known 305 vortec head definatly has power potential (especially when modded) and should be able to get them for a song.
The chamber size is 58cc's. The valves are smaller.
