Cracked block!? Ahh, need help!!!!
My car has been sitting for about a year mostly while I was away at college. Over this time I have replaced the intake gasket twice trying to stop the antifreeze that seems to keep getting into my oil. Now that the car is finally put back together I need to fix this so I can drive it. I replaced the head gaskets a year ago and there is no smoke at idle to suggest a head gasket is leaking. When I took off the intake manifold I checked the lifter valley for any visible cracks and didn’t find any (If there are any they are to small to see, I looked really hard).
It seems that the engine has to get up to operation temperature for the antifreeze to get in the oil. If the block is cracked I would assume it has to be a hair line fracture that only leaks when the cooling system is pressurized. Another interesting thing is now I am seeing very little peaces of what looks like copper in my oil; it looks like the same stuff that is in those stop leak products. So maybe the previous owner put some of that in.
Now for the question, what do you guys recommend for stopping the leak? I need some thing to hold me over for the rest of the summer until I can make some money for a new engine. At my local Advance Auto store they have 4 different products that you can put in your coolant to fill in a block crack. Is anyone familiar with these products? Which one should I use?

KW Block Seal is probably the best band-aid on the market....but, like i said...it's just a band-aid. If you're thinking performance, the best way to go is to pull the motor and have it checked by a machinist that you can trust. There are some machine shops that will tell you that your block is cracked in the hopes of raking in some business. Shop around...

Thanks for the info. Have you used this product? The engine has 145k on it so I am just going to drive it until it breaks, but I want something that works well.

hehenothing works better than properly fixed engine

i've used that copperseal??? copper looking stuff in a water like solution. it held the blown headgaskets on my friends car for about 6 months before it finally gave out again. that stuff will stick to everything though. the radiator will have to be replaced.
i couldn't say how well it will work on a cracked block?
