Idle problem. Cant I shoot this car please

Well, not really. I think I'd shoot myself before I'd shoot my GTA. Ok, well, its an 88 with a 305 tpi auto MAF. I'm having an idle problem when its cold and even worse when its warmed up. Its like it stutters when I come to a hault. Mainly at a redlight. The engine idle goes up a little and then under 500 rpms a couple times and then will die. I have to restart the car. Now, it only does this in gear. I can sometimes shift it into neutrel and it'll be fine. But even now, it's starting to do it then too. Now in park, it's fine. I'm not sure why it's doing this. Does throw codes, isnt running rich or anything like that. I took off my intake and put a home-made cai on and it started doing this soon after that. So, any help would be great. Thanks

Try cleaning the idle air control and its passages in the throttle body.

I havnt hooked the car up to any scanners or anything because it has never thrown a code and figured it wouldnt help. No, I have never changed the o2 sensors. And the idle air control? I cleaned all the inside of the throttle body once, but where is that?

Two things... IAC or TCC solenoid.

Start with the IAC, pull it out and clean it with carb cleaner, clean the passages in the TB and then set the minimum air per the tech artical.

If that doesn't work, replace the torque converter clutch solenoid in the transmission.

When I drove it today, I found that the oil pressure drops all the way and then it starts doing that sputtering crap, any ideas on that?
