Universal Plug Wire problem, help

I got MSD Universal Plug Wires for $60 shipped (MSD-3110)...
I was assembling them, and I realized the electrode cap sticks out of the boot. All of them do.
They also are too loose to fit a spark plug, it just slides off.
I don't know what's going on, but I know they're crimped on the correct side.

What do i do?

Did you use the proper ends? Those look like they're for the straight boot type to me

they're the only ones it came with, and they have a bending point right after the crimp

Those ends are supposed to go INTO the cap. There are two styles of terminals. You have the wrong one.

Here's a pic to explain what I mean. I know it's odd, but true.

I honestly don't understand why (whoever) even sold you that kit, unless you didn't tell them what car/engine/ignition system you have.

AFFAIK, that style cap hasn't been used in a WHILE. I had one like that on my '65 Merc Comet.

I believe GM switched in 1975.

Here's a link to that style dist cap.

I don't believe you can get a cap like that to work with and HEI system. IIRC, They're different size caps.

Looks like you'll have to return them, if you still can. Otherwise you're out $60.
