can I use a 350 crank in a 305?
I need a forged light-weight crank for my next build up, but I havent seen much supprort for the 305. Are there any places to get them or can I just modify my block to use a 350?

If you use the 305 rods with the 305 crank, and use lightweight pistons, (and have it all balanced) you will end up with a lighter, but somewhat weaker, bottom end. This would help you in the acceleration department if you didn't get too carried away with making power. Otherwise, go with the 350 crank, it's balance weight is considerably different than the 305, and even though a machine shop could balance it, it would take a lot of mallory metal to do it.

I tried doing that 2, but the problem I had was tremondous loss of gas mileage and good gain in performance. However I wasn't impressed with it since I lost 5 miles to the gallon. I actually had to reprogram my chip to gain more gas mileage
